Excursion from West to the North
Route: Tanah Lot – one of the most important sea temples, Bedugul – spice- and flowermarket, Ulun Danu Bratan temple on the shore of the Bratan explosion lake, Munduk waterfalls or instead the Bali Bird and Reptile Park next to Ubud.
Our first stop is the well known Pura Tanah Lot, the brilliantly located sea temple which sits upon a tower of rock. You can walk over to the temple itself at low tide. It’s very important that we pick the correct time to visit the temple. We visit before noon when the crowds are few, because everybody shows up for sunset and the mobs obliterate any spiritual feel the place has.
Our next stop is the traditional market in Bedugul. This area, at the western side of the Bratan lake, is the horticultural focus of central Bali. It’s daily market provides the freshest vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs, spices and potted plants.
Not far from the market we stop at the shore of the Bratan lake, which is the explosion lake of the Bratan volcano. Here we’ll find the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, which is a very important Hindu-Buddhist temple. It’s dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the waters, and is actually built on a small island, which means it is completely surrounded by the lake.
We continue our journey to the waterfalls at Munduk. The road winds beautifully through the lush scenery, and you can enjoy the superb panoramas of North Bali and the ocean. Coffee, vanilla, cloves and cocoa plantations all around. And if you want to have a shower under the waterfall, be our guest!
If you’d rahter choose another program instead of the Munduk waterfall we offer to take you to the Bali Bird Park to witness the largest and finest collection of Indonesian birds in the world plus fantastic birds from Africa & South America. Encompassing two hectares of botanical landscape, the park provides sanctuary to almost 1000 birds of 250 different species. The park accommodates an amazing display of flora with more then 2000 tropical plants including 50 varieties of palms alone and attracting numerous butterflies. The park is divided into regions that recreate the natural habitats of our birds, complete with indigenous plant life and traditional artifacts for authenticity. Experience the original jungle birds of Bali and encounter the world's rarest bird, the Bali Starling.
